A FAREWELL TO PATRICK KELLEHER
The drums and bagpipes of the
Emerald Society Pipe Band filled the hall at the Hilton Hotel as First Deputy Commissioner Patrick Kelleher stood at attention. They played in tribute to a man who has
won their respect in a difficult job.
The recognition of the community is a fine thing, but the recognition of one's peers is a priceless accomplishment.
Kelleher's voice cracked with emotion at times as he said his farewell. It is hard to leave a career at any
time of life. Retirement from a lifetime in police work is filled with emotion for most cops who love the job.
Kelleher is now part of the great history of the NYPD. We wish him good luck in all of his future endeavors.
