A MESSAGE FROM THE PUBLISHER OF NY COP ONLINE MAGAZINE
September 11, 2001 will be a day that will take its place with December 7, 1941 and
November 22, 1963 as days that will live in infamy in the history book of the United States of America.
The threat of other acts of terrorism will be present for many months. The National
Guard will be utilized for security and defense, however, the organization of a large reserve force of retired police officers may help to assist our police and National Guard in
providing security for our citizens here at home.
It was gratifying to witness the mobilization of retired firefighters to assist the active members of the Fire Department of the City of New York. We must also mobilize a ready reserve of retired NYPD
police officers. The attack on the World Trade Center requires such preparation and planning. There are 40,000 retired members of the NYPD. Although many of those former police officers no long
reside in New York City, there are thousands who are still residents here. The organization of the reserve could be entitled: POLICE RESERVE CORPS. During the Civil War, the Union Army
organized the VETERAN'S RESERVE CORPS comprised of battle hardened veterans who had rendered prior service in the Army.
We must act quickly to organize and equip such a corps of experience retired police officers.
IWe also must start to use our brains and "think out of the box" about how to deal with the constant threat of terrorism in the coming years.
I have only written about Terrorism in New York City. ( World Trade Center Bombing, Terrorism in NY ) There is no reason to assume that our fanatical enemies will restrict their actions to NYC and
Washington, DC. Similar Police Reserve Corps should be organized in all the 50 States.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT NY COP ONLINE MAGAZINE WWW.NYCOP.COM will not be able to answer your emails quickly. We will try to answer as many as we can during this trying time for our Nation.

We will need all the spiritual grace and strength that we can muster. In past wars, many have called
upon the name of the Lord. Both sides in many conflicts asked the same God to assist them in overpowering the enemy. I think that we not mistaken to believe that in this war against terrorism, we
will have Divine Providence with us.
