GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING MAY 19, 2010

On Wednesday,  May 19, 2010, the General Membership Meeting of the NYC Verrazano 10-13 Association was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Great Kills, Staten Island.    About 125 members were in attendance when the two Republican Candidates for the 13th Congressional District seat iin the United States House of Representatives spoke to the membership about issues effecting their lives.     Candidate Mr. Michael Grimm,  addressed the members and stated that he was a combat veteran who served as a US Marine in the Persian Gulf War. He also is a former FBI Agent who worked undercover to root out corruption in Wall Street.   He responded to questions of the members after his talk.  Mr. Grimm has a website:  www.GrimmforCongress.com

I
It should be noted that both of these men face a possible Primary battle in September, 2010 to determine who will be nominated as the official Republican Party Candidate on the ballot in the November 2010 elections.   Both men stated that immediately after they spoke to the members,  they were to appear before the Staten Island Republican Party Executive Committee to seek their endorsement.
The Staten Island Advance reported in the Thursday,  May 20, 2010 issue that the Staten Island Republican Party Executive Committee had endorsed neither Grimm nor Allegretti.  The Committee endorsed former US Congressman Vito Fossella

The very real possibility of a three way Primary election in September with Fossella, Grimm, and Allegretti on the ballot creates a very interesting situation for Staten Island Republican Party members.  They will have a plethora of candidates to choose from.
